Ventosa Massage (Cupping Therapy)
The Ventosa Massage (also known as Cupping Therapy) is a traditional healing technique that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction, which can help improve circulation, reduce muscle tension, and promote healing. Here is a step-by-step procedure for performing a Ventosa Massage:
Steps for Ventosa Massage (Cupping Therapy):
Prepare the Area:
- Ensure the area is clean and warm.
- Have the client lie comfortably and apply a thin layer of oil to the skin (optional, for sliding cups).
Materials Needed:
- Cupping glasses or silicone cups (available in various sizes)
- Suction pump (for plastic cups) or a flame (for glass cups)
- Massage oil or cream (optional)
- Towels or sheets for draping
- A clean and comfortable treatment area
Place the Cups:
- For Glass Cups: Light a flame to create suction inside the cup and place it quickly on the skin. The vacuum effect will pull the skin into the cup.
- For Plastic Cups: Use a suction pump to create a vacuum before placing the cup on the skin.
Duration:
- Leave the cups on the skin for 5-15 minutes.
- If using the sliding technique, gently move the cups over the skin while maintaining suction.
Remove the Cups:
- After the treatment time, gently press on the cup's edge to release the suction and carefully remove the cups.
Post-Treatment Care:
- You may see circular marks on the skin (normal). Massage the area to restore circulation.
- Advise the client to avoid hot showers or heavy physical activity immediately after.
Benefits:
- Reduces muscle tension and pain.
- Improves blood circulation.
- Helps detoxify the body and reduce stress.
